Brief notes from the Crawley AIM 24/12/6 Hour Races 2018.
Grant MacDonald won the 24 hour race at the K2 stadium yesterday, 8th April setting a new course record for the event with 233.73 km.
Sarah Sawyer won the womens race, second overall, also setting a new women’s course record of 205.683 km .
Norbert Mihalik won the 12 hour with 142 km and Karen Wallace won the women’s event with 110 km.
Dan Lawson’s winning distance of 81.211 is the fifth best performance at 6 hours in the world so far this year. Tracy Dean won the women’s event, third overall, with 70.840 km – third best performance in the world this year.
Congratulations to all who took part in this years event and many thanks to the volunteers, sponsors and support teams who made this event possible.
With 8 months still to go, the Crawley 24 Hour Race 2018 is half full. With a limit of 40 runners Race Director Pam Storey is confident the event will reach its limit. However there seems to be little interest at the moment in the 6 hour and the 12 hour.
The 6 and 12 hour races are great events for novices to step up from marathon into ultramarathon distances.
Track based events are far from being boring unless one is prone to boredom of course. All your supplies can be located trackside, toilets are close at hand and there’s an always manned and supplied aid table never more than 400 m away. With good first aid cover and probably masseurs – this is cushy as far as an ultra goes. IAU certified too.
Get yourself on the DUV list and everyone will know you are an ultrarunner at last.
Good conditions enabled outstanding performances from both Marco Consani and Debbie Martin-Consani who set new course records at the Crawley A.I.M. Charity 6 and 12 Hour Track Race on April 26th at the K2 stadium.
Debbie’s distance is a new British record (subject to ratification) and Marco’s win puts him second for the year for 12 hours.
We are happy to welcome you to the new home of the Crawley A.I.M. Charity 6 & 12 Hour Track Races. While the site is subject to ongoing development, the application form for next years races which will take place April 26th 2014, is now available for download from the Entry page.
