The Crawley 12 and 24 hour races are now full with waiting lists.
There are still a few places left in the 6 hour race but we need more ladies.
This promises to be the best ever 24 hour race with runners trying to break Dave Dowdle’s record which was set in 1982 of just over 170 miles!
If you can’t run then why not come to help out and support the runners…
I hope your training has been going well and that you are all looking forward to having some fun at the Crawley track.
If you are entered in the 24 hour race please send me your ‘bio’ as soon as possible. Just a few words about yourself, your running history and plans for Crawley.
If you are interested in finding ultra races anywhere in the world check out this excellent website.
It is great for statistics, race results etc.
All races are now full with waiting lists.
There are places available on the 6 hour waiting list but 12 and 24 are full.
Can the 24 hour runners please start thinking about their ‘Bios’ as you will need to submit them in the new year.
There will be a race programme for the 24 hour race with brief details of all competitors. Some competitors sent ‘bios’ last year for the cancelled 2020 race but new bios would be good as your details may have changed. Please send as soon as possible.
Time to make a decision so I have. After a lot of thought, prayers and a discussion with the K2 Leisure Centre Manager, we have decided that 17th of April is too soon after lockdown. So, the race will now take place on Saturday 3rd/Sunday 4th of July. I apologise to anyone who for whatever reason may not be able to take part on that date but the only alternative (to avoid clashing with other big events) was to postpone to April 2022. I really wanted a race this year so there we are, that is what is happening. I will be e mailing all entrants during the coming week. In the meantime I can advise you the options are to take part, withdraw or defer to April 2022. Thank you for your patience in waiting for this announcement. I am sorry I cannot offer refunds as the charity are really in need of a donation to help our needy kids in Uganda.
There are still plenty of places available for the 6 and 12 hour races but the 24 hours is nearly full.
Entries are now open.
A lot of runners have deferred their entries from this year so don’t leave it too late to enter.
Sadly here is the news no one wanted to hear. Common sense must prevail. Whilst the K2 Leisure Centre remains open I think it is only a matter of time before they will be forced to close. So, I have decided in the interests of all concerned, to cancel the race for 2020. I will be writing to every one of you in due course. All being well, if I can get the track booked, the race will be on the weekend 17th/18th of April 2021 so put that date in your diaries.
